With the water showing signs of falling and an empty can of fuel, here is a video wrapping up the day’s highlights on Cottage Row in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

We travel on one-way traffic through the lowlands of our Cottage Row neighborhood, our lives a houseboat for now…with a river uncontrollable.

After the day’s fantastic events, I’ve spent a little time on Youtube and rediscovered its potential web-weaving, technological fabrics. Here are two videos about Iowa rivers, one just for fun and the other piercing the heart of CREG’s mission for the Cedar River. Get on YouTube!
Check them out and let me know what you think.

Grudges shouldn’t require physical action to resolve. Not for the greatest sins, not for the greatest grievance…but what if an unstoppable force can only be trounced in good fun on the water? …continue reading David vs Goliath

Recently I wrote about two gents from Cedar Rapids, Iowa who navigated the Cedar River in its entirety, from the Iowa border to the Iowa River.  Funding the project themselves, James Martin and Brian Emerson created a video of the canoe trip and celebrated its release on March 22, 2008, commemorating World Water Day.  …continue reading Videos: Watersheds Unite!

In the past several months, CREG has considered launching a city-wide awareness mission about the Cedar Falls Wastewater Treatment plant releasing coliform bacteria (define) into the Cedar River, although within the DNR’s regulations, at levels considered unsafe for swimming.  …continue reading High Water Marks for Cedar Falls City Council

With winter here in Iowa in the throes of what she does best, my wife and I were lucky enough to soak up the sun recently in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  The week was mild in the 70’s …continue reading Myrtle Beach Storm Drains

In Sept 2006, two Cedar Rapids natives canoed a 300-mile stretch of the Cedar River, hoping to discover a citizen-based perception of our backyard river.  Their findings were enlightening and discouraging.  All told, the verdict continues to ring in my ears.  Of the entire stretch of Iowa’s Cedar River, where can you find the most disturbing sights?   …continue reading The Dirtiest Verdict…the Waterloo/Cedar Falls stretch of the Cedar River
